WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University hosted Mid-Atlantic Christian University for a baseball double-header on February 8th. In the second game of the day,
Kaleb Whitaker took the mound for the Bruins. Whitaker and the Bruin defense sat the first 3 batters for MACU. In the bottom of the first,
Logan Conklin hit a 3-run shot that set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. The Bruins would go on to score 7 in the second, 2 in the third, and 5 in the fourth to run away with this game 17-2. With this win, Carolina University swept the Mustangs on the day and moved to 2-2 on the season.Â
As a team, the Bruins hit 5 homeruns in this game;
Cade Fletcher,
John Giboyeaux, and
Logan Conklin each hit 1 and
D'Artagnan Hawthorne hit 2. Conklin led the team with 5 RBI's as the offense rolled.
Kaleb Whitaker (1-1) got the win in this one after 4 and 2/3 innings of work. Whitaker struck out 7 giving up only 3 hits and 2 runs.Â
Carolina University will be in action next on February 12th and 13th as they travel to Columbia, SC to take on NCCAA rival Columbia International University. The Bruins are scheduled to play the Rams once on Friday with a double-header on Saturday afternoon.
