TOCCOA FALLS, GA -- The Lady Bruins were on the road at Toccoa Falls College on Thursday, January 28th. Carolina University was seeking its 3rd win in a row against another NCCAA opponent. The Eagles and Bruins traded buckets in the early going, and ended the first quarter tied at 19 all. The Bruins were able to get a 3-point edge at halftime behind 8 second-quarter points from Wells. Carolina University blew the game open in the third quarter by holding TFC to just 11 points and building a 54-43 lead going into the fourth. The Bruins would close the game out and earn the 66-57 road victory.Â
NiJaa Wells earned her 2nd double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Jada Sleet again led all scorers with a career-high 26 points in this one. The Lady Bruins also had
Malayah Montgomery and
Tazah Hardin score in double-figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Lady Bruins are now 7-3 and will prepare for an important matchup with Voorhees College Thursday, February 4th. Last year, Carolina University dropped both games to Voorhees, but the Lady Bruins are poised to defend home court against this NAIA foe.
