Women's Basketball Sweeps Season Series with Rival BJU

WINSTON-SALEM -- Carolina University Women's Basketball hosted rival Bob Jones University on Tuesday, January 26th. Carolina University beat BJU in Greenville, SC 57-51 just one week prior. Looking to build on that success, Coach Lee had his team ready to go from the jump as they took an 18-8 first quarter lead. CU used their smothering defense to take a 12-point lead into halftime. Part of Carolina University's success was on the backboards where they finished with a commanding 38-24 advantage. However, Bob Jones had a 15-point advantage in 3-point shooting and used that to challenge CU in the second half. Carolina University was able to counter the perimeter shooting with transition and paint points and would secure the 68-58 victory.

The Bruins were led by the back-court duo of Jada Sleet and Malayah Montgomery. Sleet scored a game-high 21 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out 6 assists, and had 4 steals. Montgomery had the game's only double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. She also had a career-high 7 steals that helped to anchor the Bruin defense and jump start their fast break. Ni'Jaa Wells was also a huge impact for CU scoring 8 points and securing 10 rebounds.

Carolina University moves to 6-3 after the victory and appears to be rolling under the direction of Coach Lee. The Bruins will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Toccoa Falls College on Thursday, January 28th.
