WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Baseball opened the season against Marian University on Saturday, January 30th. The Bruins hosted the Knights in a double header with
Jacob Ladley on the mound for the Bruins in the first game. After a scoreless first inning, the Knights scored 4 in the second and another 2 in the fourth. Carolina University tried to rally late by scoring in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, but came up just short. The Knights won the first game by a score of 8-4.Â
Jacob Ladley (0-1) pitched all 9 innings for the Bruins and recorded a career-high 13 strike-outs in the opener.
John Giboyeaux and
Josh Kent each went 1-2, drew 2 walks, and scored a run. Designated Hitter
Matt Martir-Tullock recorded 2 RBI's with his hit and scored a run for the Bruins.
Carolina University will look to bounce-back in the second game of the double-header this afternoon.
