WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Baseball hosted Marian University for a baseball double-header on Saturday, January 30th. In the second matchup of the day,
Kaleb Whitaker took the mound for the Bruins. Marian got out of the gates fast scoring 5 runs in the first inning. Whitaker and the defense would settle in after that and only give up 2 more runs for the rest of the game. Down 6-0 in the fifth, the bats for Carolina University came alive. The Bruins would score 5 in the frame and bring the game to 6-5 with just 2 innings to play. Despite the valiant effort that comeback attempt would come up just short as Marian University would go on to win 7-5.
Kaleb Whitaker (0-1) pitched all 7 innings for the Bruins and gave up only 2 earned runs. Whitaker also struck out 10 batters and only relinquished 1 walk.

Bryan Deegan each went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's a piece in this one.
The Bruins will next be in action in Elizabeth City, NC on February 6-7. Carolina University will play the University of South Carolina Beaufort on Saturday and have a double-header with Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Sunday. Â
