Bruins Bounce Back at Home

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Women's Basketball hosted Johnson University (TN) on Friday, February 19th. The Bruins lost 57-60 to the Royals earlier this season and aimed to even the series at home. This game had a post-season feel with high intensity from the jump ball. There were several lead changes, but Johnson University left the first quarter with a 19-14 lead. The second quarter was much of the same, but the Bruins stayed within striking distance at the half down 37-42. Carolina University came out of the half re-energized and used their defense to spark a flurry. The Bruins were able to build their lead to as many as 6, and took a 59-58 edge into the fourth quarter. Carolina University looked in control of the fourth and maintained a lead throughout. The Bruins sealed the game with free throws to earn the 80-75 victory.

Carolina University had an extremely balanced attack on the night with 5 different Bruins reaching double-figures in scoring. Ayana Collins looked dominant with her 16 point and 11 rebound double-double. Jada Sleet contributed a game-high 20 points. Taza Hardin was excellent as she stuffed the stat sheet.
