ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- Carolina University Men's Basketball traveled to play against Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Friday, February 12th. This was the second meeting between the Bruins and Mustangs this season. MACU was able to hang on to a narrow victory early in the season and CU was hoping to see a different outcome on this road trip. This game was highly contested and neither team could find an edge early. The Mustangs hit a last second 3-pointer to take the 34-31 lead at the half. The second half wasn't much different. This game had 14 ties and 9 lead changes because neither team could break away. The Bruins were finally able to create some space with a 9-point lead late in the second half. MACU rallied with some big shots, but Carolina University held them off and won by a final score of 76-70.Â
The Bruins had 4 players score in double-figures:
Micah Cooper,
Kester Ofoegbu,
Dillon Voyles, and
Andrue Aguilera. Cooper had another double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Ofoegbu wasn't far behind as he scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Voyles and Aguilera scored 11 and 10 respectively.
The Bruins will look to build on this win for Monday's game at rival, Bob Jones University. Carolina University will play BJU for the first time this season and renew the series that has been dormant the last couple of years.Â
