WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Women's Volleyball hosted Emory & Henry College on Tuesday, November 2nd. The Bruins and Wasps played earlier this season in Meadowview, VA, and Emory & Henry earned the 3-1 victory. Carolina University, powered by their home crowd, got off to a strong start. The Bruins won the first set by a score of 25-17. The Wasps came back to win the second set 25-15. Much like the first match this season, Emory & Henry secured the third set as well to take a 2-1 lead. The fourth set was very back and forth and was all tied at 18-18. However, the Wasps were able to make just enough plays down the stretch to take the set by a final score of 25-22. This gave Emory & Henry the 3-1 win over Carolina University.
The Bruins did have some strong individual performances in this highly competitive match.
Kamra King and
Destinee Hardamon each had match-highs in their perspective areas of expertise. King led the game with 28 assists, and Hardamon dominated with 15 kills. This young duo looks very promising for the Bruins moving forward.
Chiara Mottola also reach double-digit kills with 10.
Sarah Pickett did a little of everything for CU as she had 6 kills, 1 ace, 2 assists, and a team-high 12 digs.
Carolina University now moves to 10-8 on the season and will have one match remaining before post-season play. St. Andrews University will come to CU on Thursday, November 4th at 6:00PM. The Bruins beat the Knights 3-1 on the road earlier this season. This re-match will also serve as Senior Night for Carolina University so come to Williams Gymnasium to show your support!
