BELMONT, NC -- Carolina University Women's Volleyball traveled to play at NCAA DII Belmont Abbey College. The Bruins and Crusaders went back and forth in the early going, but Belmont Abbey was able to take the 2-0 lead after winning each of the first two sets 25-23. Despite the deficit, the Bruins did not give up. Carolina University rallied in the third set and took the 25-16 victory. With the momentum, the Bruins then cruised to a 25-14 victory and evened the match at 2-2. The deciding fifth set was highly competitive, but the Bruins prevailed 17-15 to win the match 3-2 and complete the comeback victory!
Offensively, the Bruins were led by
Kamra King. King delivered 30 assists and had 7 aces. The hitting trio of
Destinee Hardamon,
Chiara Mottola, and
Sarah Pickett were in sync as each had double-digit kills. Additionally, this front row had a great defensive effort. Mottola recorded a career-high 6 blocks. Pickett had 16 digs and Hardamon had 15.
Regan Adams also had a strong performance with a team-high 27 digs.Â
The Bruins will look to carry this momentum into their tri-match on Saturday, October 30th. Carolina University will host NCCAA opponents Regent University and Bob Jones University for matches at 2:00PM and 6:00PM respectively. The match against Regent University carries weight within the South Region and BJU is ranked #1 in the NCCAA DII. This shoudl be a great opportunity to watch CU in action as spectators are allowed in the Williams Gymnasium.
