WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Women's Basketball hosted Clinton College on Saturday, October 23rd for their 2021-2022 Season and Home Opener. The Bruins struggled to get their offense going in the first quarter and fell behind 27-10 at the quarter break. The second quarter was better for CU, but Clinton College had a 51-29 lead at halftime. Carolina University was able to regroup and held the Golden Bears to just 12 points in the third quarter. The Bruins were chipping away at the lead, but it was too little too late. Clinton College was able to steal the 80-67 road victory.

Taia Smith who had a game-high 17 points in her Carolina University debut. Smith also grabbed 7 rebounds.
Shantazia Gordon had a double-double on opening night with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Point Guard
Denasia Mitchell had a big second half and closed with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Carolina University (0-1) will have a quick turn-around as they host Carolina Christian College on Tuesday, October 26th.Â
