WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Men's Basketball hosted Clinton College for their Season Opener on Saturday, October 23rd. The energy in Williams Gymnasium was electric and each team responded. The competitive spirit of the teams was showing and neither could gain much of an advantage. The Golden Bears held the narrowest lead of 36-35 at the half. In the second half, the teams continued to trade runs, and the game was all tied up at 61 with under 8 minutes to play. Clinton College was able to go on a run to take a 6-point lead. The Bruins responded and had in close down the stretch, but couldn't complete the comeback. Clinton College would steal the road victory by a final score of 76-70.
Despite the loss, several Bruins had big individual performances.
Kester Ofoegbu started right where he left off in his All-American campaign last season. Ofoegbu had a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Micah Cooper also had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Andrue Aguilera and
Najeem Nawabi contributed in scoring with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Ethan Brook grabbed 10 rebounds in his CU debut.
Carolina University (0-1) will look to bounce back at home on Tuesday, October 26th when they host Carolina Christian University.
