WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Men's Basketball hosted Carolina Christian College for a game on Tuesday, October 26th. The two schools are familiar with one another and exist just minutes apart. As a result, the turn out and crowd for this matchup at the Williams Gymnasium was excellent. This game had a late season feel before tip-off and the Bruins would not disappoint their home crowd. It took about 9 minutes for CU to find its footing, but they would blow the doors open in this one. The Bruins had a 15-10 lead and would go on a 26-6 run to close the half. The 41-16 halftime lead was more than enough for the Bruins to manage the second half. Carolina University would earn their first victory of the season by a final score of 70-56.
The Bruins were led by their 3 All-Region selections for last season.
Kester Ofoegbu had a game-high 16 points with several thunderous dunks as a part of the first half explosion. Ofoegbu would also grab 9 rebounds, including 3 offensive boards.
Micah Cooper had the game's only double-double with 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Andrue Aguilera would also find double figures with 10 points and 3 of his 4 rebounds came on the offensive glass.
Carolina University (1-1) will face an NCCAA DI South Regional test in their next game. The Bruins will travel to Virginia Beach, VA to play against Regent University in their season and home opener on Saturday, October 30th. This game will be a good road test for the Bruins as they should play in a good environment with a 6:00PM tip-off.
