BLUEFIELD, WV -- Carolina University Women's Soccer was on the road at Bluefield State College on Wednesday, October 27th. The Bruins were fresh off a come from behind win on Tuesday and looked to keep that energy going. Carolina University was able to score the first goal of the match in the 37th minute, but Bluefield State answered to tie the game before halftime. The Blues would then take a 2-1 lead at the 63:38 mark. The Bruins would continue to work, but time was running out. In the 89th minute, CU was granted a penalty kick and converted to tie the game at 2-2. The Bruins were able to carry that momentum into overtime and secure the 3-2 win with a golden goal at 94:51.
The Bruins received great contributions from several members of the team. Defensively,
Savannah Placie was named player of the game by her coaches and Zee Ventura had 7 saves while in goal. Offensively,
Hayden Pacheco scored her second goal of the season at the 36:02 mark.
Aaliyah Rubio continued her strong season her 4th goal. Rubio came up clutch for the Bruins when she sent the game to overtime on the late penalty kick.
Mary Jester had a magical set of games this week. Jester had the game winning goal in this one at the 94:51 mark.  Additionally, both of Jester's goals this season have been game winning goals in back-to-back games on consecutive days.Â
The Bruins are now 8-8 with a final game at NCCAA DI Regional Opponent, Regent University. Carolina University will travel to Virginia Beach, VA on Saturday, November 6th to close out their regular season with a 3:30PM kick-off. Despite beating the Royals earlier this season, the Bruins are dialed in because of the post-season implications of this match.
