Winston-Salem, NC -- Carolina University's Men's and Women's Soccer traveled to Kissimmee, FL for the second year in a row to compete in the NCCAA National Tournament. The teams' valiant efforts did not go unnoticed as two Bruins were named to the NCCAA DI All-Tournament team.
Aaliyah Rubio, a junior forward for the Navy and Gold, recorded a total of six shots with two on goal during the tournament. Rubio scored the Bruins only goal in the 77th minute against Campbellsville University. Her performance solidified her spot on the All-Tournament team.Â
Benjamin Fortuin, a sophomore defender, was named to the Men's All-Tournament team. Although, Fortuin recorded just one shot on goal during the competition, it was his aggressive defense that landed him on the All-Tournament team list.
Carolina University also had five players receive Scholar Athlete awards, a player of junior or senior status with a 3.4 GPA or higher, this fall.
