McCamley’s Two-Goal Performance Leads Carolina University Past Fisher College, 4-2, in CAC Classic

BERMUDA RUN, N.C. – The Carolina University Men's Soccer team continued its winning ways Friday night, October 16, defeating Fisher College 4-2 in a physical Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Classic matchup at Truist Sports Park. Playing on short rest after a 2-1 victory over Florida College on Thursday, the Bruins showed determination and resilience to secure their second conference victory in as many days.

Entering Friday night's contest with a 1-0 record in CAC play, Carolina University looked to build momentum against a determined Fisher College squad. Both teams came out with intensity in a highly competitive and physical matchup, with neither side willing to back down.

The Bruins broke through in the 26th minute when Will McCamley found the back of the net for his ninth goal of the season, giving Carolina an early 1-0 advantage. Fisher College responded just over two minutes later when Santiago Blancuzzi scored in the 28th minute to even the contest at 1-1.

Carolina quickly regained control in the 36th minute when Carlos Ramirez scored his sixth goal of the season off an assist from Jordan Julien, putting the Bruins back in front 2-1 heading into halftime.

The Bruins came out aggressively to begin the second half, creating several scoring opportunities before Will McCamley struck again in the 56th minute. Assisted by Sonny West, Will McCamley recorded his second goal of the evening and 10th of the season, extending Carolina's advantage to 3-1.

However, Fisher College refused to go away quietly. Edwin Gonzalez scored in the 72nd minute to cut Carolina's lead to 3-2, setting up a tense final stretch. The physical nature of the contest continued throughout the second half, with both teams battling for possession and momentum.

Carolina remained composed despite Fisher's late pressure. In the 88th minute, Mateusz Zaparuszewski delivered the decisive goal off an assist from McCamley, securing the 4-2 victory for the Bruins.

Will McCamley led Carolina's offensive attack with two goals and one assist, contributing to three of the Bruins' four goals. Carlos Ramirez and Mateusz Zaparuszewski each added a goal, while Jordan Julien and Sonny West recorded assists.

The Bruins finished the evening with 14 shots, including seven on goal, compared to Fisher's 11 shots and four on target. Carolina goalkeeper Isaac Bunton played all 90 minutes, recording two saves to help preserve the victory.

The physical battle was evident throughout the match, as the teams combined for 31 fouls and nine yellow cards. Despite the intensity and short turnaround between conference contests, Carolina maintained its composure and found a way to finish strong.

Head Coach Craig Golding reflected on his team's performance following the hard-fought conference victory:

"Playing two conference games in two days is never easy, especially against two competitive opponents. I thought our guys showed a lot of character and determination tonight. Fisher made us work for everything, and it was a very physical game from start to finish. I'm proud of the way our players responded to adversity, stayed together, and found a way to get the result. Scoring four goals in a conference matchup is a positive, but we know there are areas we need to continue improving as we move forward."

With the victory, Carolina University improves to 10-2-1 overall and 2-0 in CAC play, continuing its strong 2026 campaign.

Up Next: Carolina University Men's Soccer will return to action on Monday, October 19, when the Bruins host Shaw University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. as Carolina looks to continue its winning momentum in front of the home crowd.
