MOCKSVILLE, NC - The Bruins hosted Alice Lloyd College on Saturday (Feb. 29), defeating them 12-11 and 8-6.
Game One
Piedmont got things started in the first inning when
Matt Tullock grounded out, scoring one run. The team pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning.
Kevin Greenwood hit a solo homer; an error scored one run for PIU, and
Wesley Ambrose singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
The Bruins notched six runs in the fifth inning with
Joshua Wright,
Talon Greene,
Harrison Vaughan, and
Drew Martin each had RBIs in the inning.
Piedmont built an eight-run lead in the sixth inning and held off Alice Lloyd's charge for a 12-11 victory.Â
Nate Williams led things off on the hill for Piedmont. He went six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, and striking out five.
The team collected 14 hits. Ambrose went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
Game Two
With the game tied at six, batting in the bottom of the sixth,
Bryan Deegan hit a sac fly scoring two runs. The Bruin took the victory 8-6.
Charlee Edwards got the start for Piedmont. He went three innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out three and walking one.
Josh Williams hit a long-ball home run on the day in the second inning.

Josh Kent each collected one hit.
PIU will return home next weekend (Mar. 6 and 7) as they face Johnson University - TN in a three-game series.
