WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Piedmont International University took their fifth loss of the season after falling to Voorhees College on Monday (Jan. 27) by a score of 67-61.
Piedmont was dominant in the first quarter scoring 13 points.
Ashley Lane was a catalyst for the Bruins the second as she made all of her field-goal attempts for seven points. The Bruins shot 7-for-25 from the field in half but were outrebounded by the Tigers 18 to 15.
After trailing the entire third quarter, Piedmont was able to pull themselves back in, tying the game at 56 with 3:14 left on the board. Voorhees was able to take the win from the line after two good free throws.
Lexius Houzer led PIU in scoring with 14 points followed by sophomore
Alysia McLeod, who posted a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.
Aja' White finished with nine points and three rebounds.
The Bruins will return in a week as they host Bluefield College. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM.
