Women's Basketball Outlasts Milligan

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Women's Basketball hosted Milligan College on Wednesday, November 11th. The Bruins were coming off a big win the night before, but appeared ready for the 1-2 Buffs. Offensively, CU went inside early and often as they scored 2 of their 42 points in the paint on the first possession. Milligan would hang around, but Carolina University would take the early 18-15 1st Quarter lead. The Buffs made some plays of their own and had the game knotted at 28 going in to halftime. The post-play well never ran dry for the Bruins and they used that to take the 2-point advantage after 3 quarters. Milligan threatened in the fourth using back to back 3's to take a 4-point lead. Again, the Bruins attacked the paint and regained the momentum and lead. Coach Tatum's Lady Bruins would run away with the 4th Quarter and game to down the Buffs 71-58.

As mentioned the front-court for Carolina University was incredible in this one. Lexius Houzer scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Ayana Collins contributed 15 points and 9 rebounds off the bench for the Bruins. Jada Sleet and Mychala Wolfe brought stability to the back-court with 13 and 10 points respectively. Sleet was there when her team needed her most and scored all of her points in the second half. Wolfe complimented the team well as she filled up the stat sheet with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.

The Lady Bruins will be back in action again on Saturday, November 14th at Carver College in South Fulton, GA. The Bruins hope to stretch the 2 game win streak into 3 against this NCCAA opponent.
