Men's Soccer Stays Hot in Alabama

TALLADEGA, AL -- Carolina University Men's Soccer finished a back-to-back road trip in Alabama at Talladega College with a convincing 6-0 victory on Saturday, October 17th. The Bruins had finished a physical match less than 24 hours prior to kick-off, and CU knew they needed contributions from everyone. The players were up to the task and had an extremely well balanced attack. The starters provided 4 goals and the substitutes contributed 2 more to propel the Bruins to their tremendous 3-0 start on the season.

Freshman Heymans Martinez secured his first win and shut-out in the goal for Carolina University. Additionally, four Bruins scored their first goals of the season: Nate Schultz (2), Benjamin Fortuin (1), Emmanuel Gyamfi (1), and Jaime Rodriguez (1). Mario Salinas continued his incredible play with his 3rd goal of the weekend and 2 assists for CU. Currently, Salinas leads the Bruins in goals, assists, and total points. Head Coach Craig Golding was very pleased with his squad following the match. He said, "I thought we were in control of the game right from the start to the very end, which shows the quality of depth that we have on the team this year." Golding and the Bruins now have a little time to rest and prepare for rival, Bob Jones University next week.

Carolina University defeated Bob Jones University 1-0 on the road in CU's season opener in September. BJU has not lost aside from that match and currently sits at 5-1-1 on the season. Bob Jones has an NCCAA matchup on October 24th prior to the showdown in Winston-Salem. Carolina University and Bob Jones University will kick-off at 7:00PM on Thursday, October 29th.
