GREENVILLE, SC - The PIU Lady Bruins fell to the Bob Jones University Bruins 3-0 on Friday night.
Bob Jones struck first in the 18th minute as Kayle Stevenson finished off a cross on the ground from Emma Snow, making it 1-0. Snow would turn scorer in the second half with a powerful strike to the near post from 18 yards out, giving Bob Jones a 2-0 lead. The final goal would come from a corner kick, as Jessica Peterson headed home Megan Brubaker's cross in the 77th minute.Â
Senior midfielder
Ashli Mincey led PIU with three shots on the night while sophomore goalkeeper
Ericka Washburn recorded ten saves.Â
"The girls played hard all night," said Head Coach
Kyle Neal. "We defended well from the front. I thought we limited their chances early. When you make a mistake against a team like this, you don't usually get away with it, and two mistakes made the difference."
The Bruins have a quick turn around and will be on the road tomorrow as they take on Sweet Briar College at 4 PM.
