GREENVILLE, SC - The Piedmont International University Bruins continue the winning streak on Friday as they came from behind to win 3-1 over the Bob Jones University Bruins.
PIU (4-1-1) conceded the first goal of the game for the first time this season. In the 7th minute, BJU got a loose ball down the right side and drove in a low cross that they finished off to make it 1-0.
It wouldn't be until the 44th minute that Piedmont would draw level, as freshman forward
Eukey Smallwood was brought down in the box. Senior forward
Marco Diaz converted the spot-kick, leveling the score at 1-1.
The momentum would shift entirely in favor of PIU in the second half as Bob Jones' Peter Waddy was shown a second yellow card and sent off on 67 minutes.
PIU would take hold of the game from there, with a go-ahead goal coming when sophomore
Nate Schultz was met by junior Jorge Espinoza's header with 13:44 to play. The game would be sealed in the final minute when Smallwood finished off a quick break from Diaz' assist, finishing off the 3-1 score.
Piedmont will continue the road trip on Wednesday as they travel to Randolph College in Lynchburg, VA for a 7 PM kickoff.
