ROCKY MOUNT, NC - Piedmont International University came up short in a four-set match against North Carolina Wesleyan University on Tuesday night.
Dropping the first set 23-25, the Bruins fought hard in the second. With the game tied at 24-24,
Virgillia Jones and
Olivia Bullard had back to back kills to finish out the set, 26-24.
Unfortunately, the second set win wasn't enough to change the momentum of the match, as the Bishops put the Bruins away in the third and fourth set, winning 20-25 and 17-25.
Piedmont posted a total of 47 kills on the match.
Mckenzie Mastin recorded 17 kills, Bullard 11 kills, and Jones 9 kills.
The Bruins put up a defensive front with
Cydne Moore and Bullard leading the team with five blocks each. PIU out dug the Bishops 57 to 53, with
Cameron Dubuc driving the team with 16 digs.
PIU will continue their long road game stint this Thursday as they travel to Misenheimer, NC to battle Pfeiffer University.
