Piedmont Volleyball Splits in Final Matches of the Jean Lojko Invitational

GREENSBORO, NC – Piedmont International University volleyball split their matches on the final day of the Jean Lojko Invitational going 1-1, defeating Mid Atlantic Christian University 3-0 before falling to Greensboro College 3-1.

Game 1: Mid Atlantic vs. Piedmont
In match number one, Piedmont out hit MACU -.065 to .275 and logged 29 kills to the Mustangs 14. Senior Mariah Robinson led the Bruins with a match-high of 5 kills. Freshman Emma Snyder and sophomore Mckenzie Mastin added 4 and three kills respectively, with Snyder leading the team with a .429 hitting percentage.

PIU logged 18 aces during the three-set match. Hannah Arneth and Kaylee Barriage recorded five aces apiece, while Cameron Dubuc added 4 of her own.  Piedmont finished the Mustangs 25-9, 25-14, 25-14.

Game 2: Greensboro vs. Piedmont
After dropping the first set of the match against Greensboro College, Piedmont volleyball roared back with a game win to force a fourth term. The Pride overcame the Bruins in the third and fourth set 25-15 and 25-22, forcing PIU to take a loss in its final match of the Jean Lojko Invitational.

Piedmont recorded a total of 39 kills. Olivia Bullard had a match-high of 11 kills, while Mastin and Virgillia Jones added ten kills each. The Bruins found success in the second set outhitting Greensboro .393 to .241.

The Bruins' gritty defense out dug the Pride 54 to 50. Mastin, Dubuc, and Alexia Infante registered 15, 12, and ten digs, respectively. Chelsea Edwards finished the match with 37 assists.
