LAURINBURG, NC - After being down two sets and fighting back to a fifth, PIU volleyball falls in a heart-breaking battle, 3-2, on Tuesday evening.
St. Andrews came out with momentum early, winning the first set 25-17 and the second set 25-18. The Bruins found composure in the third and rallied their offense to win the next two sets with a score of 25-19 and 25-22. Piedmont led the game with 51 kills to the Knights 48 and 12 aces to St. Andrews 10.
In the fifth, Piedmont had the lead the entirety until a kill by the Knights tied up the game 11-11. St. Andrews would continue a 7-point run and take the set and match 15-11.
The Bruins offense was led by Cynde Moore, who hit a .550, recording 13 kills off 20 attempts.
Mckenzie Mastin followed with a total of 16 kills. Four Bruins marked double-digit digs:
Cameron Dubuc with a total of 20,
Chelsea Edwards with 16, Mastin added 14, and
Alexia Infante recording 12.
Piedmont will continue on the road this weekend for a tri-match verse Brevard College and Guilford College.
