Winston-Salem, NC -- Bats were blistered on Wednesday (April 9) as the Greensboro Pride out hit the Bruins. Piedmont struggled to put runs on the board, having a tough time defensively containing Greensboro College, giving up a total of 21 runs.
The game started out at a rapid scoring pace. Greensboro College put up six runs in the first inning and two in the second inning to jump ahead 8-3. The Bruins scored three in the third inning to make it 8-6 and their finnal run in the fourth. Unfortunately, Greensboro College's bats would stay hot for the rest of the game.
Bryan Deegan led PIU with two hits, including a homerun in four at-bats.
Kevin Greenwood and
Jakob Fulmer each added a double.
The Bruins pitched a total of five pitchers:
Marshall Brown,
Lucas Dalton,
Joshua Arent,
Lee Thorne, and
Dylan Ramirez.
Greensboro College collected 14 hits on the day to account for their 21 runs, which was simply too much for the Bruins.The loss dropped the Bruins to 8-19 on the season.
