Winston-Salem, NC -- The Piedmont Bruins watched the game slip away early s they could not recover from an early deficit in a 13-4 loss to Pfeiffer University on Thursday.
In the second inning of the game, Pfeiffer University got on board with five runs to get ahead 5-1. The Bruins struggled to put up runs and contain Pfeiffer University, giving up 13 runs.
Jacob Ladley was on the mound for the Bruins. He went four innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits and striking out two.
Cordaro Cummings,
Michael Williams, and
Weston Markle each contributed in relief for PIU.
PIU was able to tally ten hits and two home runs on the day.
Eli Straw went yard in the fifth inning.
Kevin Greenwood had a long ball in the second inning.
Jakob Fulmer led the Bruins with three hits in three at-bats.
Pfeiffer University totaled 13 hits in the game, with three players collecting multiple hits for them.
The Bruins will on the road this upcoming Tuesday, April 16 as they are away Montreat College. Games are scheduled for 2 and 5 PM.
