ADVANCE, NC – The Piedmont International University men's soccer team dropped a match to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders 3-0 on Monday. Â
Belmont Abbey got to a quick lead as one of their players found the back of the net in the 13th minute. Goalkeeper
Jeremiah Gibbs kept the Bruins in the game with one big save as the Crusaders offense generated 11 total shot attempts. The Bruins defense played an active first 45 minutes of play as they held the Crusaders to one goal, going into halftime trailing 1-0.Â
The Belmont Abbey offense turned it up a notch in the second half as they scored two goals. The strong second-half performance fueled the Crusaders to a 5-0 victory.Â
Jason Mejia Morena led the squad with one shot attempt being on goal.
Marco Diaz and
Mario Salinas each had a shot, as well.Â
Piedmont will be on the road this Thursday as they travel to Regent University. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 PM.
