WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Piedmont International volleyball falls in a heart-breaking five-set battle, 3-2, on Thursday evening against Emory and Henry.

Emory and Henry came out with momentum early, going on a 13 to 3 run before taking the first set 25-22. The Bruins found composure in the second and third set as the offense outhit the Wasps .333 to.087 and .188 to -.049. PIU took set two and three, 25-18 and 25-15.

The Wasps led PIU from point one in set four. The Bruins were unable to tie up the game even after a momentum shift near the end of the set.Â

In the fifth, the points went back and forth with both teams being tied a 7 right before the switch. Tied a 14-14, the Wasps were able to record a kill and take advantage of a hitting error to take the match

The Bruins offense was led by Olivia Bullard, Cydne Moore, and Virgillia Jones, who recorded 28, 10, and 9 kills respectively. Moore was a defensive force at the net adding 5 blocks to the sheet.

Piedmont out dug to the Wasps 87 to 76. Chelsea Edwards, Cameron Dubuc, and Olivia Bullard registered 19,18, and 18 digs apiece.

PIU will hit the road next Thursday as they travel to Charlotte, NC for a 7 PM match verse Johnson & Wales University.
