Winston-Salem, NC -- The Piedmont International women's soccer team came out on top in overtime Saturday evening against Warren Wilson College (3-1-0).
The first half didn't see much action until the 42nd minute when Kelsie Simpson lobbed the ball into the corner of the net, putting the Bruins of the board.
In the second half, Warren Wilson College made a goal of their own in the 59th minute. Ashli Mincey responded by striking the ball into the goal, making the score 2-1. Shortly after, the Owls snuck another goal past the Bruin's freshman keeper Ericka Washburn. The main play ended with a score of 2-2.
Going into overtime, the Bruins held possession of the ball for majority of the time. It was not until the second overtime that the Bruins picked up their winning goal. Simpson broke ahead of the Owls defense and got her ball in the back of the net, ending overtime play 3-2.
The Bruins led the Owls offensively with 11Â shots on goal versus their 8Â shots. In goal, Ericka Washburn collected 6 saves.
The Bruins will be back in action at home on Monday (October 1) when they host Greensboro College at 5:00 PM.
