Box Score Toccoa Falls, GA -- Piedmont International University continued their early season momentum on Wednesday as grabbed a convincing road win against Toccoa Falls by the score of 8-2.
The Bruins (2-1) fell behind early in the game on a 2 nd minute goal by the Screaming Eagles' (3-4) Jared Rockwell but equalized quickly on
Francisco Bribiesca's full volley from
Jerry Pineda's corner kick in the 8th minute.
PIU would take control just 45 seconds later as
Nate Schultz found
Marco Diaz in the box for a simple finish.
Diaz would grab his second from
Jose Perez and
David Flores-Sanchez would nod home a corner from
Adrian Gonzalez just 2 minutes from halftime making the score 4-1 at the break.
The Bruins struck just over 2 minutes into the second half as Joshua Logan was brought down in the box for a penalty.
Jose Perez stepped up and slotted it home to his right for his first goal of
the season.
Logan added a goal of his own in the 55 th minute as
Eric Smiley sprung him free down the right side in behind the Screaming Eagles defense before Jason Mejia Moreno added a goal from
distance to open up his scoring for the season.
In the 61 st minute, Austin Chancey would pull one back for Toccoa Falls, but it would be matched by a strike from
Eric Smiley to wrap up the scoring in the 67th minute.
The shot total favored the Bruins 22-12.
PIU will have a quick turnaround as they return home to take on Bob Jones University at BB&T Soccer Complex on Saturday at 4pm.
