Sylver Samuel

Coach Syvler Samuel is in her second season as Assistant Softball Coach for the Piedmont International Bruins.

Education: Samuel received her Bachelor's in Public Relations at the University of Kentucky in 2016. She is now pursuing a Masters degree at Liberty University.

Professional: Coach Samuel has worked in the hospitality industry for two years for Homewood Suites by Hilton and Embassy Suites. She took on her first coaching postilion at Furman University as a volunteer assistant coach in early 2018, before coming to PIU.

Collegiate: Samuel, a four-time SEC Honor Roll member, swiped a school record of 84 bases and concluded her four-year career at Kentucky ranked in the top 10 in school history in runs (8th/119) and batting average (9th/.309). She helped the Wildcats to three NCAA Super Regional appearances and a Women's College World Series berth in 2014. In her freshman season, Samuel batted .319 and totaled 21 stolen bases in 22 attempts for a Kentucky squad that won its own NCAA regional and advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals in Tempe, Ariz. The following season, the Wildcats' center fielder posted a .287 average and 20 thefts to help Kentucky to one of its most successful seasons in school history. The Wildcats finished 50-19 and advanced to the SEC Tournament championship game and reached the WCWS where they scored an opening-round victory over Louisiana-Lafayette. Samuel delivered an inside-the-park homer versus DePaul to help the Wildcats to the NCAA regional title. As a junior in 2015, Samuel hit .297 and recorded 20 stolen bases to propel Kentucky to another NCAA regional appearance. The Wildcats claimed the title at the South Bend Regional before being eliminated in the NCAA Super Regionals by Florida. As a senior in 2016, she batted a team-best .337 with 60 hits and 23 stolen bases in 29 attempts as Kentucky posted a 46-14 overall record and 17-7 SEC mark. Samuel was a three-time AAAA Coaches Association for Women's Sports All-State selection at Hillcrest and was named 2012 Coaches Association for Women's Sports and High School Sports Report Player of the Year after guiding the Rams to a AAAA state title.
