COLUMBIA, S.C. — Carolina University Women's Volleyball carried the momentum of a perfect 3-0 week into Tuesday night's road matchup, earning a commanding 3-0 sweep over Columbia College at Godbold Gymnasium.
The Bruins controlled the match from start to finish, taking the three sets 25-10, 25-14 and 25-19. The victory improved Carolina to 8-7 overall and extended its winning streak to four matches.
Carolina established the tone immediately in the opening set, cruising to a 25-10 victory. The Bruins hit .381 in the frame with 12 kills before turning in their strongest offensive performance of the night in the second set. Carolina recorded 15 kills against just two errors to hit .464, taking a 2-0 advantage with a 25-14 win. The Bruins finished the sweep with a 25-19 victory in the third.
Britney Comolli led the Carolina attack with an efficient performance, recording a match-high 11 kills on 17 attempts while hitting .471. Rileigh Franklin added six kills, while Kennedy Dobard contributed five kills on six swings for an impressive .833 hitting percentage.
The Bruins finished the match with 39 kills and a .321 team hitting percentage, committing just 13 attacking errors on 81 attempts. Carolina also recorded 34 assists, five service aces, five total blocks and 31 digs. The defense held Columbia to a -.076 hitting percentage for the match.
Natalia Cano directed the Carolina offense with a team-high 25 assists and added a service ace, while Syvannah Poore contributed six assists and an ace. Emma-Grace Dubuc led the defensive effort with nine digs and also registered two service aces. Comolli finished with seven digs to complement her match-high offensive output.
Head Coach Chelsea Jones was pleased with the Bruins' ability to carry their recent momentum onto the road.
"I thought our team did a great job of coming out focused and playing with energy from the opening serve," Jones said. "We have continued to grow each time we step on the court, and it was good to see contributions from throughout our lineup tonight. We want to keep building on this momentum and continue getting better each time we compete."
With four consecutive victories now in hand, Carolina will remain on the road for its next competition, but the Bruins will not have to travel far. Carolina University will make the short trip to Salem College for a tri-match, taking on Pfeiffer University at 2 p.m. before facing Salem College at 4 p.m.
