Bruins Men's Volleyball Fall to Bluefield in Conference Matchup at Williams Gymnasium

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Carolina University Men's Volleyball continued its conference slate on Saturday afternoon, March 14, hosting Bluefield (Va.) at Williams Gymnasium. The Bruins, a young squad still working to establish their identity this season, battled throughout but ultimately fell in straight sets, 3-0 (19-25, 19-25, 21-25).

Bluefield set the tone early, using efficient attacking and consistent serving pressure to control the opening two sets. Carolina showed flashes of resilience, particularly in the third set, where the Bruins pushed late before the Rams closed out the match.

Fritz Hall led the Bruins offensively with a performance, recording 7 kills on just 19 attempts. Makoa Nichols added 3 kills and contributed defensively with 5 digs.

Carolina finished the match with 26 total kills and a .148 team hitting percentage, while Bluefield posted 37 kills and hit .282 as a team.

Despite the result, the Bruins continued to show growth and competitive stretches, particularly in the final set where they held pace with Bluefield before the visitors pulled away late.

Head Coach Jake Boldog emphasized the team's ongoing development following the match:

"We're a young group still learning who we are and how we compete at this level. There are moments where we show exactly what we're capable of, but consistency is the next step for us. We'll keep building, and I'm confident this group will continue to grow together."

Carolina will look to regroup quickly as they return to action on Tuesday, March 17, when they host Rio Grande. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Williams Gymnasium.
