TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. — The Carolina University Bruins Baseball team opened their NCCAA South Region series in dominant fashion on Friday night, defeating Toccoa Falls, 23-8, at Rich Park.
Carolina wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for seven runs in the top of the first inning and never looking back. The Bruins added consistent offensive pressure throughout the game, finishing with 23 runs on 18 hits in a complete team performance.
Leading the offensive charge was Luke Daniels, who delivered a standout performance with five hits and seven RBIs. Nathan Wesley added a home run and drove in two runs, while Alexis Fontanez and Randy DeMaio each homered as part of a powerful Bruins lineup. DeMaio also contributed four RBIs, and Ty Vespe added extra-base production with a double and triple.
After a high-scoring start from both teams, Carolina's pitching staff settled in to control the game. Cameron Gribble earned the win on the mound, tossing six strong innings while allowing just one run and striking out seven.
The Bruins showcased discipline at the plate as well, drawing 13 walks and capitalizing on multiple scoring opportunities to pull away in the later innings.
Associate Head Coach Logan Conklin praised the team's approach following the win.
"We came out aggressive and executed our game plan early," said Conklin. "Our guys did a great job staying disciplined at the plate and putting pressure on their pitching staff. It was a complete team effort, and we're looking to carry that momentum into tomorrow."
Carolina University will return to action on Saturday, March 14, as they complete the three-game series against Toccoa Falls with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
