Bruins Baseball Drop Doubleheader to Division II Wheeling University

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Carolina University Baseball welcomed Division II Wheeling University to Rich Park on Saturday, February 28, for a doubleheader matchup. In the opener, Carolina struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Chandler Smithart crossed the plate on a wild pitch to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.

Coach's Comments

Associate Head Coach Logan Conklin emphasized growth and continued development as the season progresses.

"We're still in the early part of the season and we're continuing to put the pieces together," said Conklin. "There are stretches where you see what this group is capable of, especially offensively. Now it's about consistency, tightening things up on the mound and defensively, and continuing to come together as a team. We'll keep competing and getting better every day."

Carolina looks to regroup and finish the series strong when the Bruins return to Rich Park on Sunday afternoon for the final game against Wheeling University at 2:00 p.m.
