ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Carolina University Baseball opened its weekend road series in dominant fashion on Friday night as the Bruins traveled to Elizabeth City to take on the Mid-Atlantic Christian Mustangs. Carolina delivered an explosive offensive performance, powering past the Mustangs 27–1 to begin the series.
The Bruins wasted no time setting the tone, plating four runs in the opening inning behind timely hitting and aggressive base running. Carolina continued to build momentum with multi-run frames throughout the night, highlighted by a massive 10-run fifth inning that put the game firmly out of reach.
Offensively, the Bruins tallied 27 runs on 15 hits, showcasing depth throughout the lineup. Several Bruins contributed big swings, including multiple home runs that fueled the scoring surge and kept pressure on the Mustang pitching staff from start to finish.
On the mound, Carolina received a strong outing from Jasean Brown, who earned the win after tossing five shutout innings while striking out seven. The bullpen followed with solid relief work to secure the road victory.
With the win, Carolina builds momentum heading into the remainder of the weekend series.
Associate Head Coach Logan Conklin Quote:
"We came out with great energy tonight and executed in all phases of the game. Our approach at the plate was disciplined, and we did a great job applying pressure inning after inning. It's always good to start a series strong on the road, but our focus now shifts to staying consistent and finishing the weekend the right way."
Carolina University will close out the weekend series on Saturday, February 21, as the Bruins and Mustangs meet again for a doubleheader in Elizabeth City with first pitch slated for 12pm.
