Bruins Earn Road Conference Win at Morris College, 72–61

SUMTER, S.C. — The Carolina University women's basketball team continued its positive momentum on Saturday afternoon, earning a 72–61 road victory over conference opponent Morris College at the Garrick-Boykin Human Development Center on January 17. The win came just days after the Bruins picked up a victory against Elizabeth City State University on January 11, as Carolina improved to 4–14 overall and 2–1 in conference play.

Carolina set the tone early, building a 19–13 advantage after the opening quarter before taking a 35–31 lead into halftime. The Bruins delivered their strongest stretch in the third quarter, outscoring Morris 23–15 to extend the margin and take control of the game.

Dearia Page led all scorers with 24 points while adding 17 rebounds for a dominant double-double performance. Angelina Jordan followed with 19 points, knocking down four three-pointers, and Jakyiiah Willis contributed 15 points on an efficient shooting night. MeiLani Patterson was active on both ends of the floor, finishing with eight points, nine rebounds, and three blocks as Carolina won the rebounding battle, 44–42.

Head coach Hannah Latiolais credited her team's effort and composure on the road.

"Conference road games are never easy, and I was proud of how our team stayed disciplined and played together for four quarters," Latiolais said. "We defended well, shared the ball, and made timely plays when it mattered. This group continues to grow, and today was a good step forward for us."

Carolina shot 36.9 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from beyond the arc, using balanced scoring and defensive stops to keep Morris from mounting a late comeback.

The Bruins will look to build on the road victory as they continue conference play in the coming week as they host a CAC pod  on January 23-24 at Carolina University.
