Carolina University Women’s Soccer closes Florida road trip at Ave Maria

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Carolina University Women's Soccer closes its Florida road swing on Saturday, September 6, with an 11:00 a.m. kickoff at Ave Maria University. The Bruins enter the contest after earning a 1–1 draw against Warner University earlier this week, a result that showcased the team's resilience while also leaving room for improvement in finishing and execution.

From the Sideline

Head Coach Boo Tesh reflected on the Warner performance and the opportunity ahead:

"I was proud of the way our group battled against Warner and earned a point on the road," said Coach Tesh. "At the same time, we know we left opportunities out there. Going into Ave Maria, we're focused on being sharper in the final third and maintaining our defensive discipline for the full 90 minutes."

Bruins Focus

Carolina's emphasis this week has centered on maintaining possession under pressure and accelerating in transition. Expect the Bruins to mix patient buildup with selective vertical passes to break lines. In the defensive phase, collective pressing cues—particularly after turnovers in midfield—will be critical in limiting Ave Maria's rhythm and shot volume.

Scouting the Gyrenes

Ave Maria traditionally defends with organization and looks to spring counters through quick outlets and overlapping runs. The Gyrenes' home form and familiarity with the climate can pose challenges; Carolina's depth and rotation patterns will be important to manage the midday heat and sustain intensity through 90 minutes.
