Columbia, S.C. — September 2, 2025 — Carolina University Men's Soccer continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 2–0 victory over Columbia International University on Tuesday evening at Sessions Field. The win improves the Bruins to 3-0-0 on the year, while the Rams fall to 1-2-0.
Carolina struck first in the 13th minute when Karell Buitendijk calmly converted from the penalty spot, giving the Bruins an early advantage. The defense, anchored by goalkeeper Joshua Wilson, held strong throughout the first half as Wilson recorded two key saves to keep CIU off the scoreboard.
In the second half, the Bruins continued to apply pressure, outshooting the Rams 13–9 after the break. The decisive second goal came in the 79th minute when Lewis Jacklin finished a pass from Buitendijk, doubling the lead. Just moments later, CIU was reduced to 10 men following a red card, allowing Carolina to close out the match with composure.
Wilson earned his third clean sheet of the season, finishing with four saves on the night. Overall, the Bruins recorded 18 shots to CIU's 15, while also winning the corner battle 8–6.
Head Coach Craig Golding praised the team's performance, stating, "We showed discipline and resilience tonight. Karell and Lewis stepped up in key moments, and our back line once again set the tone defensively. It was an important road win early in the season."
Carolina University will return to action on Tuesday September 9 against Louisburg College.
