Carolina University Mourns the Passing of Dr. Charles Petitt
Carolina University announces with deep sadness the passing of Dr. Charles Petitt, who faithfully served as President for over 23 years. Dr. Petitt passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, leaving behind a profound legacy of faith, vision, and dedication to Christian higher education.
Under his leadership, the university grew from 199 students to over 900, transforming from a small Bible college into a thriving Christian university. He was one of the longest-serving university presidents in North Carolina, a testament to his impact and transformative leadership. Dr. Petitt was known for his commitment to the Great Commission to "teach all nations" (Matthew 28:19-20), his infectious enthusiasm, and his captivating storytelling.
