St. Andrews Defeats Carolina University with Big Fifth Inning

St. Andrews University delivered an offensive onslaught against Carolina University, securing a 14-4 victory. Despite Carolina jumping out to an early lead, St. Andrews responded with a powerful offensive surge, highlighted by a 10-run fifth inning that put the game out of reach.

Game Recap

Carolina started strong, scoring three runs in the first inning, led by Robbie Smith's two-run homer and Danny Gonzalez's RBI single. St. Andrews quickly answered back, cutting the lead to 3-2 in the second inning after C. Santucci's two-run double.

In the third, J. Zambito launched a two-run home run, giving St. Andrews its first lead at 4-3. Carolina's bats went quiet after that, and St. Andrews capitalized.
The game's turning point came in the fifth inning when St. Andrews erupted for 10 runs. G. Wolff's two-run double set the tone, followed by a grand slam by K. Treece that blew the game open. G. Wolff capped off the inning with a solo home run, making it 14-3.

Carolina managed to score one more run in the bottom of the fifth on Alejandro Rodriguez's RBI double, but that was all they could muster as St. Andrews' bullpen silenced their offense for the final two innings.
