Carolina University Splits Doubleheader Against Bluefield University

Carolina University took on Bluefield University in a doubleheader at Wilson Park, securing a 4-2 victory in Game 1 before falling 15-3 in Game 2.

Game 1: Carolina Holds Off Bluefield for 4-2 Win
In the opening game, Carolina used early offense and a strong pitching performance from D. Brooks to secure a 4-2 victory over Bluefield.

Key Performers: Carolina jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning after ZyMaijah Thomas and Nicole Otto reached base and were driven in by Kalea Bolch. Cameryn Hays extended the lead with a solo home run in the second. Despite Bluefield's 10-hit effort, Danielle Brooks worked out of trouble multiple times, striking out nine to secure the complete-game win.

Game 2: Bluefield Responds with Offensive Outburst
Bluefield responded emphatically in the second game, breaking out for 15 runs on 13 hits to hand Carolina a 15-3 loss in five innings.

Key Performers:
  • Kalea Bolch: 2-run home run in the third inning
  • Leigha James: Solo home run in the fifth inning
  • D. Loflin (Bluefield): 3-for-4, 3 runs scored
Carolina struggled defensively, committing four errors that led to multiple unearned runs. Bluefield put up five runs in the fourth inning and then exploded for eight runs in the fifth, taking full control of the game. Carolina starter Chloe Herbster was charged with 14 runs (six earned) over 4.2 innings.
