Danville, VA – Carolina University had a strong game with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Averett on March 19 at the E. Stuart James Grant Center. The Bruins battled back from a first-set loss to claim the match with set scores of 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, and 29-27.
Averett came out strong in front of their home crowd, taking the opening set 25-19. However, Carolina University quickly regrouped, with key performances from
Jamison Johnson, who led all players with 17 kills and an impressive .577 hitting percentage.
Friedrich Hall also contributed significantly with 14 kills, while
Kai Jamerson orchestrated the offense with 44 assists.
The second and third sets were closely contested, but Carolina University managed to edge out 25-22 victories in both, thanks to strong defensive efforts and timely attacks.
Moses Nix added 13 kills and four block assists to bolster the Bruins' front line.
The fourth set proved to be a dramatic battle, featuring eight tie scores and three lead changes. Carolina University ultimately sealed the win in a 29-27 thriller, securing a hard-fought win.
