Carolina University Men’s Basketball Battles Brewton-Parker in Road Matchup

Mount Vernon, Ga. — November 11, 2025 — The Carolina University Men's Basketball team hit the road Tuesday evening to face an undefeated Brewton-Parker College squad. The Bruins went toe-to-toe with the Barons for much of the night before falling 73–64 in a tightly contested matchup that remained even at halftime.

Carolina (2–4) and Brewton-Parker (4–0) entered the locker room tied 31–31 after a competitive first half highlighted by balanced scoring from the Bruins. Senior guard Shawn Woodson led the way with 16 points, connecting on two three-pointers while adding five rebounds. Forward Tristan Kuska provided 13 points and six boards, while Zay Scott posted a near double-double with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Cooper Smith added 9 points, and Devan Edwards filled the stat sheet with 8 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.

As a team, the Bruins shot 42.4% from the field and controlled the glass with a 42–33 rebounding edge. However, Brewton-Parker capitalized on turnovers — converting 28 points off Carolina miscues — and used a 42-point second half to pull away late.

Head Coach Jacob Heck praised his team's effort despite the setback:

"Our guys fought hard from start to finish," Heck said. "We were right there with a very good Brewton-Parker team for most of the game. The difference came down to execution and turnovers in key moments. We're learning and growing from these experiences, and I'm proud of how we continue to compete."
