Carolina University Women’s Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw at Bluefield State

Bluefield, W.Va. – October 1, 2025 – Carolina University Women's Soccer traveled to the East River Soccer Complex on Wednesday evening and came away with a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Bluefield State.

The Bruins generated consistent offensive pressure throughout the match, outshooting the Big Blue 12–10 and earning a 5–1 advantage in corner kicks. Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Waleska Gonzalez stood tall in net, recording three crucial saves to secure her second shutout of the season.

Offensively, Kyara Gonzalez led the way with three shots, including one on goal, while Peyton Battilla added three attempts of her own. Fifth Year Senior Alondra Ramon nearly found the back of the net late in the second half, forcing a difficult save from the Bluefield State keeper.

The physical matchup saw 24 combined fouls and two yellow cards issued to Bluefield State, but neither side was able to break through as the defenses held strong.

Head Coach Boo Tesh praised the team's resilience after the match:

"I'm proud of how our team competed tonight. We created chances and defended with intensity from start to finish. While we would have liked to find a goal, this performance shows our growth and the fight we continue to bring every game."

With the result, Carolina University moves to 1-7-3 on the season, while Bluefield State sits at 2-5-2.

The Bruins will have a break before returning home next Friday night as they take on Bob Jones University at Truist Sports Park with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
