Winston-Salem, NC – The Carolina University Men's Basketball team faced off against the University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles on their home court this afternoon, securing a thrilling 71-70 victory.
The game saw a back-and-forth battle for the lead, with the Eagles getting off to an early advantage. By the end of the first half, the Bruins were trailing by 11 points, 27-38.
Despite the deficit, the Bruins fought back in the second half, executing a series of aggressive offensive plays that allowed them to tie the game at 54-54 with just 10 minutes remaining. The momentum shifted in the Bruins' favor when Chris High drained a crucial three-pointer, bringing the score to 57-56. High finished with an impressive 22 points, going 6-7 from behind the arc.
With the score at 69-70 and only seconds left on the clock, Aundree Polk stepped up, hitting two clutch free throws to give the Bruins a 71-70 lead. The Bruins' defense held strong, preventing the Eagles from scoring and securing the win.
Carolina University Men's Basketball will return to action on Wednesday, January 29th, against Clinton College at home at 7:00 PM.
