Women's Basketball Tabs 100 to 56 Win Over Regent

Virginia Beach, VA – The Carolina University Women's Basketball team continued their strong season with a dominant 100-56 victory over the Regent University Royals on Saturday night. This thrilling matchup, the first of the season between the two NCCAA South Region rivals, saw the Bruins extend their winning streak as they powered past Regent in front of a packed crowd.

The game started with a high level of intensity, with Regent striking first with a catch-and-shoot three. However, Carolina responded quickly, using a balanced offensive attack to take control. The first quarter ended with the Bruins holding a seven-point lead, 21-14, but the Royals showed their resiliency, staying within striking distance.

As the second quarter unfolded, Carolina's defense took over. The Bruins stifled Regent's offensive flow, forcing turnovers and converting them into fast-break opportunities. Carolina's depth became evident as they kept the pressure on, with multiple players contributing to the score sheet. The Royals continued to battle, making their way to the free-throw line, but Carolina's explosive offense and defensive pressure kept them ahead, and they took a 50-37 lead into halftime.

Bianca Gonzalez had an outstanding performance, leading the Bruins with 41 points and 4 rebounds, showcasing her offensive versatility and dominance. Felesia Ondongo was just one rebound shy of a double-double, contributing 13 points and 9 rebounds in the victory. Their performances were key in pushing the Bruins to their commanding win.

The third quarter saw Carolina ramp up the intensity even further. The Bruins locked down defensively and, with some timely shooting, began to pull away. Carolina's superior ball movement and relentless pace proved too much. As the buzzer sounded, Carolina had increased their lead and entered the final quarter with a commanding 75-44 advantage. In the fourth quarter, Carolina maintained their dominance, securing the 100-56 victory.

The Carolina University Women's Basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday, January 22nd, against Morris College at 5:00 PM. The game will be played away, and the Bruins will look to carry their momentum into this crucial road contest.
