Women's Basketball Battled For NCCAA Championship

Winona Lake, IN- Women's Basketball played Grace College in the NCCAA National Championship game. The Lady Bruins battled for 4 quarters but were unable to beat the Lady Lancers of Grace College. 

The Bruins started off slow offensively in the 1st quarter giving Grace College a small lead. Turnovers gave The Blue and Gold an uphill battle as they entered halftime down 21. They hit their stride in the 3rd quarter where they tallied 20 points, Loman claiming 8 herself and Gordon 7. Multiple times the lead was cut to 9, but The Bruins were unable to find their footing in the 4th and could not overcome the 14-point deficit.

The championship game produced 2 double-doubles for the Blue and Gold. Shamya Loman had 20 points and 11 reboinds.  Shantazia Gordon tallied 13 points with 12 rebounds.  The CU Women's basketball team finish their most accomplished season ever at 16-9. DenAsia Mitchell was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team after a stellar performance in their 3 games. Mitchell averaged 15 points per game over the course of the tournament.
