Mens Volleyball Hosts Tri Match

Winston-Salem, NC- Carolina University Mens Volleyball (4-8) hosted this weekend's tri-match, playing one game on Friday and two on Saturday.

On Friday at 4 pm Carolina University battled Cumberland University (4-8) for the first game of the tournament.  The Bruins lost in four "It was a tough match we did some really good things, but gave up too many runs in the middle of the third set" Coach Alewine says. "The fourth set we started slow, but picked it up, it just happened to be a little too late." The kill leaders from the match were Austin Jeter and Mason Kenna, Jeter had 15, and Kenna 13 while hitting a .476%. Defensively Carson Pearce had 8 digs for the Blue and Gold and Andrew Jackson had 2 solo blocks and 2 block assists.

In game two starting Saturday at 12, Carolina University played Reinhardt University (10-1). The Bruins were unable to claim a set against Reinhardt, defensively the Blue and Gold held their own. Tijhmir Glasco had 6 digs and Carson Pearce had 7 of his own. The team collectively had 4 solo blocks and 3 block assists. Offensively Bryson Abernathy had 10 kills and Mason Kenna had 9 for the Bruins. 

In game three of the tri-match, the Bruins battled Roanoke College (9-7) for their last game. The Blue and Gold stole a set from Roanoke but were not able to take the match. Tijhmir Glasco ran the offense tonight and tallied 40 assists. Defensively Carson Pearce had 20 digs, along with Mason Kennas' 10. Offensively Austin Jeter had 14 kills and Mason Kenna was not far behind with 13 of his own.

Carolina University Mens Volleyball will be back in action on Tuesday the 27th at 6 pm, as they battle on the road against Benedict College.
