Kissimmee, FL – Carolina University Men's Soccer hopes for a national title were dashed as they fell to Judson University 1-0 in the 2024 NCCAA DI Men's Soccer National Championship in Kissimmee, Florida. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Bruins couldn't overcome a first-half goal from Gabriel Trevisan of Judson.
The match started with early promise for Carolina, but it quickly took a turn in the 10th minute, when a crucial foul call outside the 18-yard box gave Judson their first real opportunity. Gabriel Trevisan's shot on goal forced a save from goalkeeper Joshua Wilson, keeping the Bruins level early on.
Carolina quickly responded with a chance of their own, just minutes later. A well-placed free kick from Karell Buitendijk from near the corner flag tested Judson's keeper Ivan Dominguez, but Dominguez was up to the task, punching the ball over the bar to keep the game scoreless.
In the 21st minute, the Bruins came close to breaking the deadlock. A perfectly timed cross into the box found Carlos Ramirez, but his shot drifted wide of the far post.
It was Judson who would strike first in the 24th minute. Gabriel Uno threaded a pass through the Bruins defense to find Trevisan, who flicked the ball over the Bruins' backline and finished off the inside of the post, giving Judson a 1-0 lead and it would ultimately prove to be the only goal of the match. Carolina pushed for the equalizer, but they were unable to break down Judson's resolute defense.
Carolina, undeterred by the setback, tried to push forward in the second half. The Bruins' best chance came early, with Luke Spillane-Davis sending a shot just wide. In the 60th minute, the Bruins had another near-miss as goalkeeper Joshua Wilson made an excellent save to prevent Judson from doubling their lead.
In the final 15 minutes, Judson regained possession and controlled the tempo of the match, preventing Carolina from mounting any serious attack. Despite a valiant effort, the Bruins couldn't find the back of the net, and the match ended 1-0 in favor of Judson.
